Hi, I’m Jason Dobbins and quite honestly, I despise Halloween. I never understood the point of it, other than kids get sick to their stomach off of candy. But there is one thing I like about Halloween, and that’s the movies. There are, of course, top quality movies related to Halloween. However, the best one (and my favorite) of them all is Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Now you may be wondering to yourself: “It’s called The Nightmare Before CHRISTMAS, not Halloween.” The director of the movie considers it to be a Halloween movie, so I will as well.

The Nightmare Before Christmas follows Jack Skellington, the “Pumpkin King” of Halloween Town, who leads the town in its festivities. In truth, Jack is tired of Halloween every year. He stumbles upon a portal to Christmas Town. Shocked by the town’s existence, Jack announces that Halloween Town will take over Christmas. Things are constantly messed up by Jack and his crew, until Oogie Boogie (The villain) kidnaps Santa Claus. Jack tries to get Santa back, which he does, killing Oogie Boogie in the process. Things go back to normal and everything is fine.

I like this movie because of it’s gripping story, lively characters, and wonderful music. I could watch this movie every week and not get tired of it. My favorite character has to be Jack. He has the best characterization out of all the main ones. Also the Mayor is a good comic relief character. While most of the characters are minor at best, that does not mean they are not good. The wonderful trio of top notch voice performance, good writing, and wonderful animation make each character a joy to watch. With this movie, the bigger the role, the better the character. The main cast is wonderfully played by talented people such as Danny Elfman, Chris Sarandon, and Catherine O’Hara.

You can tell just from watching the movie that it was not lazily done. Months of hard work was poured into this amazing movie. And, if I haven’t convinced you that it’s the best Halloween movie, just look at reviews. It has gone on to receive critical acclaim across multiple platforms.

I hope that you have realized that Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is an amazing movie that anybody can enjoy.
