My family and I start our Thanksgiving day off in the morning by watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade every year. Once that goes off, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving usually comes on and we watch that.
My parents have both started cooking the other half of the food since we always make half the day before because of how much food we make. I always make the sweet potato pie and candied yams. My sister makes the corn pudding and whatever else she feels like doing that year. Then, my dad makes all the meats, you know, the ham and turkey.
Finally, my mom makes everything else like the greens, bread pudding, mac & cheese, and more.Usually my family and I just celebrate by ourselves. We don’t visit anyone and no one visits us. We save that till Christmas. This year, though, my grandma is coming to celebrate with us.
After all the food is done it is around 4 o’clock, so we instantly dig in. Once everyone is at the table, we go around and say what we are thankful for. After that we hold hands around the table and pray.
Once we are done eating, my family chills for about two hours. At around 6 my mom and neighbor, Mrs.Michelle, go Black Friday shopping. By the time my mom comes back, my dad is asleep and my sister and I are downstairs eating leftovers even though it’s past midnight.
