Recently I got the Nintendo Switch and the first game I wanted to get was Fire Emblem Warriors. Now for those of you who don’t know what that is, Fire Emblem is a tactical role-playing game franchise developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. So if you like Rpgs, tactical/strategy, bits of action, and medieval stuff then I recommend you should get into the series.
Fire Emblem has 15 main games along with a couple of side-games. The 15 main games are Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, Gaiden, Mystery of the Emblem, Genealogy of the Holy War, Thracia 776, Binding Blade, FE7 (also known as Fire Emblem and Blazing Sword), Sacred Stones, Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn, Shadow Dragon, New Mystery of the Emblem, Awakening, Fates (which is split into 3 games which are Birthright, Conquest, and Revelations), and Shadows of Valentia. Side-games I’ll talk about are Heroes. Also Warning: There are MAJOR (or minor, I’ll try not to spoil too much) spoilers here so if you’re ok with spoilers then read ahead (or not. It’s up to you.)
I’ll first talk about which games I recommend playing. You can really start off with any game but the ones I think that might interest you into playing more are Awakening, FE7, and Path of Radiance. I’ll start off with Awakening due to being the only one of the three I recommended that has Causal mode (Causal mode is when you regain your units on the next chapter since the game has perma-death (that is actually how it is spelled) which is when you lose one unit, you don’t regain that unit) and with casual mode, the game will be easier. Also all three games have difficulty settings with Normal, Hard, and Lunatic (Path of Radiance is different since it has Easy (Normal), Normal (Hard), and Hard (Lunatic).)
In Awakening, you’re playing as the Avatar (or Robin which is the default name), who has lost all their memories and you are founded by Chrom, Lissa, and Frederick and Chrom being the nice guy he is tries to help you. With the Avatar, you can customize them from deciding gender to choosing their name, Birthday, and boon and bane (which is a +(boon) and -(bane) for your stats.) Along the way back to Ylisse (which is where Chrom and Lissa live in which if you didn’t know, Chrom and Lissa are brother and sister and they’re also royalty), the group runs into some trouble and have to fight.
Throughout the game you’ll run into some characters along the way ranging from Gaius, a laidback thief who loves sweets to Cordelia, a pegasus knight who people say she’s perfect but hates being called a genius and who is in love with Chrom but knows that she can’t marry him. With that you can have support conversations with certain characters and eventually marry them and have a kid (or two if you’re playing as a male and reach rank S with any first generation female unit or if you’re playing as female and marry Chrom.)
Lastly there’s the story. Like I said earlier you’re playing as the Avatar and you’ve lost all your memories so you’re founded by Chrom, Lissa, and Frederick and they decide to help you and bring you back to Ylisse. Along the way, something happens in the forest and this “portal” appears out of nowhere and outcomes these zombie like creatures called “Risen”. They attack Chrom and Lissa and Chrom kills one of the two Risen. Lissa is about to be killed by the other one but someone else who goes by the name “Marth” appears from the “portal” and blocks the attack. Chrom helps Marth and they kill the other Risen.
That’s all I’m spoiling for the story so if you want to find out what happens next, buy the game or go watch gameplay of it (and for people who want to buy it, you need a 3Ds and around $45 to buy it and I recommend getting it on Amazon or Ebay.) I’ll be discussing the rest in Part 2,3,4, and a possible 5 when I’m able to do it (just to be clear part 2 and 3 may take awhile to do so you probably shouldn’t expect them any time soon.) I’ll talk with you guys soon (probably.)
