We all know about Snapchat, right? Well, snapchat has been a really big trend here at Dobie. All you hear is Snapchat this and Snapchat that. The main thing that people like about Snapchat is “streaks.” A Snapchat streak is when you send direct snaps back and forth with a friend for several consecutive days. The longer you go without breaking the chain of communication, the longer your streak is. Many Dobie students invest an inordinate amount of time keeping streaks alive. There’s nothing more devastating than losing a streak you’ve put months of work into.

We interviewed some students and asked them how they feel about streaks. Cierrah Utsey, 8th grader, says that her friend told her about streaks, “ My friend from Arizona named Ayana told me about how to keep and a start a streak.” Cierrah’s highest streak is 351 and her lowest is 3. “Streaks are kinda stressful especially when you have timers,” says Cierrah.

Karys Marcum, 8th grader, says that a friend told her about streaks. “ My friend Mona told me about streaks. I send them once or twice a day,” said Karys. Karys’ highest streak is 341 and her lowest is 4. Karys enjoys having streaks but it’s not always as exciting for her.“ I think they’re fun but sometimes you just don’t feel like doing them,” she says.

Now we just have people that don’t really care about them at all such as Faith Smith, 8th grader. Faith learned about streaks because of a family friend,“My mom’s friend’s son was spending the night at my house & I asked him what streaks were so he told me how to do them and what they were.” Faith says that she sends streaks everyday,“ I send them everyday but people don’t send them back, I think streaks are stressful and boring.” Faith’s highest streak is 7 and lowest streak is 1.
