According to CNN News, a former student opened fire at Majory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. At least 17 people were killed and at least 14 others were hospitalized.
Anyone who is being bullied, which includes most of us, should remember that the best defense is to avoid the bully, if possible. If you take a different way to class, skip lunch, or run for the door the second the bell rings, you might just survive another day without an embarrassing confrontation.
We personally think that the shooter should have never thought of shooting up the school. Many of the deaths could have easily been prevented by people not bullying others. If people saw that he was ill and needed care, it’s everybody’s fault. We clearly need gun control and new laws. Not later or next year, we want gun control now.
Someone who is bullied does not have the right to exact a death sentence upon his aggressors. To think that so many condone this most extreme form of violence is unfathomable. Schools have been around for thousands of years, but only in the past couple hundred have a select number of students decided that the only way they could cope with the daily torments of regular school life was by ending the lives of their tormentors and countless innocents, besides. It is juvenile. It is weak. It is reprehensible.
It’s important that students themselves get involved with bullying awareness. But they may be the solution because while bullies may seem like fearless rebels, most often they are troubled and insecure and looking for acceptance. The last thing they probably want is to be on the outside.
We need solutions and we need them now, because people are dying and dying at young ages. We suggest that the government does it’s job and gets gun laws they should not be listening to the NRA, they should be listening to the people. The truth is we shouldn’t have to bring more guns in the school that would make it worse. Sure its the shooters fault, but it’s because of the laws that he was able to get a gun in the first place.
It is time the government makes the age restriction for having a gun at 21, and if you have a gun you should not be within 50 feet of a school or home. Also if a teen brings a gun to school the adults should check the teens stuff before school starts. Tell me how an 18 year old can’t drink, but can carry a gun. We need these laws fix right now.
