On May 18, 1927, explosives connected to timers went off at the Bath consolldated School at 8:45 a.m. Almost at the exact same time another went off at Andrew Kehoe’s home and barn, about a mile southeast of the school. The final explosion happened between 20 and 30 minutes later. Kehoe had packed his truck with nuts, and bolts, and blew up his truck causing the now molten metal to fly everywhere.

In all somewhere around 37 students attending the school and 2 teachers teaching were killed in the schools bombing. 5 others including Kehoe were killed by the explosion of his truck. His wife died at their home.

Kehoe was a skilled electrician who was contacted on the occasion by the school for advice on the schools infrastructure. Within a year he got to know the school like the back of his hand.He placed somewhere around 900 pounds of explosives, only 200 pounds managed to egnite.

Professionals say the other 700 pounds of dynamite failed to go off due to issues with the fuses. Very recently, Wednesday February 14, 2018 to be exact, a School in the Broward county called l Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school, was put on lockdown, due to a school shooter named  Nikolas Cruz. He happened to be on psychiatric medication while on the day of the shooting.

After the shooting was over, 17 bodies were found, 14 people were injured. The majority of the school was destroyed, due to the explosives. This left the classrooms and rooms to be blown to the ground.

We feel as if explosives, and assault rifles should not be accessible to the public, and should only be used by the military, not citizens. Because these weapons have been accessed by the public, and so many lives have been lost.

Maybe if the number of explosives and assault rifles where harder to get, the number of shootings or school disasters would decrease. With disasters like the Bath  massacre of 1927,many lives are at stake. We are acting like we can’t do anything about it, but it’s us who have full control of society..
