On May 2 at 10 a.m., nearly 100 students walked out as part of a national walkout protest supporting the second amendment, the right to bear arms. Seventh and eighth graders stood together in mostly silence and hushed voices. Administrators and teachers, including Mr. Jackson, Mrs. Garcia, Ms. Silva, Mrs. Ruhd and others, watched over students.
“If you don’t know why you’re out here, go inside,” Ms. Silva repeatedly told students.
A previous walkout happened on April 20 to protest against school violence and for gun control. An estimated 50 students joined that walkout that began at 10 a.m.
No students were reprimanded by the school for walking out of their classes during the walkouts.
