Mixed feelings about football games on Saturdays
football took a different turn this season
August 27, 2018
This year when the football teams play Corbett, Metzger, Judson, Kirby, Legacy, Kitty Hawk, Woodlake and Heritage, the games will be on Saturdays. This is a change from past years when the games were held on Thursday nights. The reason why the game schedule changed is because the schools in the district changed.
The “A” team games will be at 9:30 a.m. and the “B” team games will be at 11:30 a.m. This season there will be four home games and four away games.
Cheerleaders must attend games to cheer. Maddie Gully is an 8th grade cheerleader who is mixed about the Saturday games. “I believe that Saturday football games aren’t bad ideas but, not good ideas because no one really wants to
wake up that early on a Saturday,” she said.
The football players will be tested this season with different schools and a different schedule.
David Mata, an “A” team football player, doesn’t like the idea of Saturday games. “I don’t like that all of our football games are on Saturdays. I don’t think anyone really likes that the games are on Saturday, especially with all the homework students get. That’s just what you have to do being a student athlete.”
Alek Saenz is an “A” team football player who is already feeling like Saturday games is lessening his free time. “Hanging out with friends this season will kinda be hard since I have practice all the time but it okay.” Most football players will agree with this. They can’t really hangout much because they practice all the time Monday through Friday.
Many students normally attend games as fans. Amiah Briseno is an 8th grade student who believes games won’t
get as many fans in attendance compared to when the games were o Thursday. “I don’t believe anyone will really be at
Briseno said students will likely still go to Steele football games on Friday nights. “People might go to the Steele games more than the Dobie games, just because a lot of people and friends will be there,” she said.

I Agree! Waking up very early on Saturdays, just to play a game is not as smart as last time. I also like how you included a fans view on this topic.

i think that Saturday football games are both a good and bad idea. Although it can be hard to wake up early on the weekends it is more convenient in a way
