Letter To The Editor

Dear Editor,
The freedom of the press is so important. If we didn’t have the press we would only see good things instead of everything that we are shown with the press. President Donald Trump said the press was the “enemy of the people” just because the press will say negative but truthful things about politics. Donald Trump doesn’t like the press but is okay with tweeting everything to the media. The press keeps America free and willing to express our opinions, share facts, and knowledge.
In North Korea they aren’t given the same freedoms as we are which limits their knowledge. Knowledge is power the less you have the easier it is to be controlled. Which is why in North Korea they are controlled by a dictator because that is the only thing they know. The press isn’t allowed in North Korea for this reason since the press would report the truth and open the people’s eyes.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. As shown in the Constitution we are given certain rights as Americans to be able to have such things as the press. No one should be able to take that from us or have the power to shut it down.
As a journalist I write and report; I don’t do it to ruin people’s reputation or cause drama. Journalist share emotion with their readers and feel the emotion while writing the articles. We live next to journalists or we are the journalists we share experiences that our neighbors, brothers, and friends feel and we share them with the world.
For everyone journalist may mean a different thing. It could mean friend, enemy, family, or just reporter. You may be insignificant to someone who has always experienced freedom or the biggest the coolest thing to someone that hasn’t. Journalists risk their lives to cover important stories like the reporters in Mexico who die everyday or the reporters who receive death threats. To me a journalist is someone who is important and covers interesting stories.
Sincerely, Lyna
