“There is a certain enthusiasm in liberty that makes human nature rise above itself in acts of bravery and heroism”
- Alexander Hamilton
Veterans day is the day we celebrate our heroes. The ones who die for us. The people who don’t even know us but are willing to die for families, kids, you, and me. I get that you could be saying,” yes, we know that” But do you know why we celebrate it on November 11?
“To commemorate the date when WWI ended (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918), President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed in 1919 that a day known as Armistice Day, referencing the armistice signed to end the war, would be celebrated on November 11.” Stated in a paragraph of Zing Blog. Soon President Dwight D. Eisenhower changed the name to veterans day.
According to the article “ According to History.com, 16.1 million living veterans served during at least one war.” For every branch of the military there is one reserve. Air force- nations space and air power, Army- land power, Coast guard- waterways, Navy- sea fights, marines corps- elite fighting force, are all branches of the military. In my opinion I love veterans day and I’m very thankful we have others who are willing to risk their lives for us. I’m always thankful for our veterans and when ever I see one I say “thank you for your service” I believe every one should. Thank you to our veterans and happy veterans day!
