November 9th

Veterans day was started to celebrate one year anniversary of the end of WWII. It is here for us to celebrate the ones who are dead or alive who have (fought in WWII) or are fighting for our freedom. Over five million people are fighting for us. This holiday is celebrated every November 10th. The people who fight are from many cultural backgrounds who fight for the same thing.

There are many branches of military. According to www.military.com, they include:

  • Air force and air force reserve
  • Army and army reserve
  • Marine corp
  • Air National Guard
  • Coast Guard and Coast Guard Reserve
  • Navy and Navy Reserve

The air force and the air force reserve is the nations main source of air and space power. They fly planes, helicopters, and Satellites. The national guard is just an extension of the U.S air force . The army is the dominate the land. They generally secure an area and give orders before they leave. They also guard U.S properties around the world. The marine forces fight on land and at sea. The were trained for that. They are also known as the World’s Fiercest Warrior. The navy is primarily Sea based when it comes to missions, but also by land and air. They secure land and sea.

In my opinion Veterans Day is the most important day of the year, because some of my family has been in the military. And by me celebrating this day I feel like I can connect with them. When I’m connected with them I don’t feel as sad and depressed.

I found my info on the armed forces branches at https://www.military.com/join-armed-forces/us-military-overview.html and my info on it at https://www.history.com/topics/holidays/veterans-day-facts
