Veterans Day is on November 11 of every year. Veterans are extremely important because they have put their own lives at risk to help our country. You have to have courage to do that. Without veterans, there would be no United States. They have protected our rights and kept us safe.
The History channel stated, “In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially changed the name of the holiday from Armistice Day to Veterans Day,” according to the History Channel It is held to honor all US veterans, living or dead, and give thanks to all that have served their country.
My brother is in the Air Force. I am extremely proud of him. He has accomplished so much while being in the Air Force. He has had to move around a lot, which is troublesome when you have kids. He has three kids and a wife. The whole family takes the moving very well.
I think that veterans are some of the most important people because they have fought for our country to make sure we are safe. They are very brave. Not every person is brave enough to go into war and risk their life for others. Just the thought of that is terrifying. I am incredibly thankful for the veterans who have risked their lives for us.
There are five branches of the military. Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy. In the Air Force, they focus on flying, but not every person actually flies. In the Army, they protect the country. They always have to be prepared to serve whenever and wherever. As a Coast Guard, they protect America’s borders in the water. A Marine serves on and off land. Lastly, the Navy are armed forces designated for water.
