I am grateful to Mrs. Hecox because she is an extraordinary, awe-inspiring algebra teacher, and she makes me want to learn more algebra and seemingly complicated math. Mrs. Hecox is an Pre-AP Algebra 1 teacher who is incredible at her job.
Her classroom is in the upstairs C Wing and is full of eccentric (in a good way) items that students have given her because she is such an amazing teacher. She makes learning fun, silly, and enjoyable at times, but it can also be a very serious environment where the students are able to thrive and learn in.
Recently, a few weeks ago, she told me that she had actually tried to contact my mom to tell her how good of a student I was. I was shocked to hear this because few of my teachers take time out of their busy schedules to call my parents to tell them that I am a good student.
My parents usually receive these compliments when they have to go to a parent-teacher conference (these occurred mainly in kindergarten through 6th grade), but barely ever from a phone call. For this small act of kindness, I am thankful.
When I am in Mrs. Hecox’s classroom, I feel at home, because of the way she teaches. She takes a fun and interesting approach to learning algebra and I really enjoy that. She uses jokes in her learning and is a very sarcastic and humorous individual.
Thanks to her, I love algebra and I am starting to excel at some of the topics that I struggled with before I had her as a teacher.
She motivates me to get my work done neatly and in an orderly fashion because I will need these life skills when I am older. She motivates me to do the best that I can possibly do, because she knows that I have the potential to do great things in all of my classes.
Because of Mrs. Hecox, I have learned exceptional math skills, life skills, and comical jokes to use when I am in the real world. This proves how thankful I am to have Mrs. Hecox as one of teachers in Dobie Junior High.
Mrs. Hecox: Thank you so incredibly much for being my math teacher and for teaching me all of these math skills and jokes. I really do enjoy being in your classroom and I find it one of the most exciting parts of my day. You are one of the most extraordinary, the most exceptional, and the most inspiring teachers I have ever had the blessing to meet out of all of my 13 years of living. Thank you so much for continuing to teach me and be my teacher and a staff member at Dobie. I am so incredibly thankful to have you as my algebra teacher. Thank you so much, Sydney Matak
