Have you ever thought of how wasteful Dobie students are? Have you seen the masses of squandered, uneaten food that students have wasted. This alone is one of the many ways students at Dobie are careless about their school’s cleanliness. So, we have come up with some ideas of how we can help clean and strengthen our environment and school naturally.

First, we can establish a school-wide compost pile by gathering natural, decomposable substances from the cafeteria. Using these substances we can put them into a compost bin so that we can let it convert into natural fertilizer. We can use this fertilizer to help our natural surroundings flourish and burgeon.

Mr. Simmons, Dobie’s principal, fully supports our proposal, and had something to say on the topic, “Anything that is positive, that combats negative, I’m all for it,” he said.

When asked about what projects he’d like to see at Dobie in the future, he said he was interested in building a sensory garden for the ALE/special needs students. “It would help kids be a part of something special”.

We can form a gardening club. In this club, we the students can and will make make decisions that will have a positive impact on the environment, including beautifying Dobie’s school grounds.

We would start this process by recruiting students that are environmentally passionate. The more students we recruit, the more opportunities our movement will present. Within this organization, we would do a variety of positive, natural, and environmentally friendly activities, such as gardening, composting, and collecting rainwater.

We will also promote healthy practices, such as eating healthy, getting the right amount of sleep, and exercising regularly.

Aaliyah Simmons, 8th grader, thinks these are good ideas. “We can help out the environment,” also she told us that if we were to start a gardening club, she would join to help the cause.

In the making of our proposition, we will work hard to support the environment and on campus and in our community, as well as our fellow students. We will provide a welcoming environment for any and all students that are willing to join our movement.  Having these ideas, we implore you to accept our proposal to make Dobie a better school with a better environment.
