Dear Editor, The president believes that “the news media is the enemy of the American people,” I think he believes this because reporters tend to write about popular topics, and the president making major mistakes or doing something that won’t benefit the US is something people would want to read about. He has a lot more people paying attention to his mistakes than his success. I don’t think he likes this negative attention so he tells his followers that anything negative that the news puts out about him is false or untrue. It’s interesting though because whenever the press publishes something good about him, the momentarily drops the claims that “the news media is the enemy of the american people”.
The article on the Boston Globe stated that “the president’s own words and long track record show again and again just how deeply cynical and dishonest this argument is” and I believe this because our president lies to people because he knows that his followers will believe and defend him. In his first 558 days of being president, he made 4229 false or misleading claims, “yet among Trump supporters, only 17 percent think that the administration regularly makes false claims” that is because the president has brainwashed them into thinking that his way is right.
Our president does not like CNN because they talk about him often. He is rude to reporters and journalists that are just trying to get more information on what is going on in the United States. The journalists are trying to do their job and our president is just ignoring them. This information is important to how some people live because if something bad or good is happening where we live, we have the right to know.
I disagree with the president because he is trying to violate our freedom of speech which is therefore violating one of the laws in the U.S. constitution. The law states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” This states that congress is not allowed to make freedom of speech illegal. Press is a way of saying what needs to be said and voicing our opinions.
