Goals for the year

Goals+for+the+year

Madyson Rivera, Staff Reporter

Hello. My name is Madyson Rivera. I am an 8th grader at Dobie Jr. High School. My first three weeks of school have been interesting. They haven’t felt like school, it’s more like summer school or a regular day. I think I feel this way because I’ve already gotten comfortable with my schedule and my peers.  The days go by so fast that it feels like its only been half a day. I know I’m going to have a good year because everyone I talk to are kind and considerate.

My first personal goal for this year is to find myself. I know it might sound weird but I don’t know who I am truly. I feel like I’m missing something in my life, maybe a purpose? I really don’t know, but i want to find out what it is. It’s causing an even bigger gap in my life. My second one is getting out of my comfort zone. I’ve found myself in a general area for a while and I want to get out. I’m going to do this by raising my hand more, and talking to more people this year. When I talk to people I get scared that they’re going to think the worst of me so I don’t talk that much to people. I talk to the ones I’m comfortable with at that point of time.

For my academic goals I want to get all A’s in my classes at the end of each quarter. I have to get A’s because it shows I can do what I put my mind to. I’m also in NJHS so I have to have A’s if I want to stay in. My second goal is to is to get better at writing. My writing skills aren’t that developed as I want them to be. I always get confused in what I’m writing because my thoughts come all at once. It’s also hard for me to word something in a different way. My last goal is to read more books. I love reading but I never find the time to.  There are so many books that I want to read and I can’t find the time to do so. I’m going to start reading at least one hundred pages a week. If don”t read I’ll have to read the rest of the book on Saturday to stay on track.

Although I push myself to my limits, it helps me excel in what I’m doing. I criticize myself so in the future I know how to improve in that task. I have goals that might not be accomplished this year but I know that they will be.
