Personal view: I am grateful for my parents

Nianna Shaffer, Staff Reporter

I am grateful for a great many things. From the clothes that are put on my back, to the food that is put in my belly. But if I take back and think about it, who provides all of this? My parents. If I could describe my parents in a few words, I would say they are caring, compassionate, loving, and most of all amazing!

Something about my mom that I really love is how playful and happy she always is. I remember as a kid that my mom was always there for me whenever I needed her most. Without my mom I don’t know what I would do without her. She, along with my dad, have helped and guided me through everything. From homework to how to fold my laundry. My mom is like my best friend, we have inside jokes and we just get each other and I think that’s a wonderful thing for a child and parent to have a close bond.

Determined, goofy, and nerdy. These are a few words that I would use to describe my dad. Determined because once he wants to start or finish something, he pushes through to reach his goal. He’s a very goofy and funny person. Always having a joke to tell to put a smile on our faces and making us laugh until our bellies hurt. My dad is an all round nerd. He’s always knowing what’s the latest thing and sharing his finds with us, things like upcoming movies, to showing off his comic collection.

Overall, I can’t begin to say how much I love my parents. To me, they are the perfect people to have as my mom and dad and I’m grateful for them helping me achieve all my goals and helping me power through all my hardships. Most of all, I’m thankful for having two wonderful parents to have at my side and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.
