Dobie 8th grade volleyball teams win against Metzger
Games held October 8 at Dobie with social distancing in place
With social distancing in place, Dobie Junior High Volleyball 8th grade girls experienced a very different kind of volleyball game when they faced Judson ISD’s Metzger Junior High School on Thursday, October 8. Dobie won all games. The A-Team scores were 25 to 5 and 25 to 13. The B Team also won both games, 25 to 8 and 25 to 18. Coaches for the 8th grade team are Coach Adame and Coach Hadas.
Brooke Robbins, on the A-Team, served 13 good serves in a row. “There were really good hits in the game, too,” said Robbins.

Because of COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, the stands were mostly empty. Each player was allowed to have two guests at the game. Some players struggled with this. “We had to encourage ourselves to stay motivated,” said Robbins.
The girls tried to make the best of the situation, cheering for each other from the sidelines and trying to keep up morale. “I didn’t like it,” said Rebecca Robinson. “My family are my biggest supporters.”
The seventh grade teams, played by Coach Murphy and Coach Herron went Metzger to play. The teams play again on October 15 against Judson.
