Christmas
Christmas is a Christian holiday that honors the birth of Jesus Christ. A time used for family and friends to get together and exchange gifts. This holiday is a very big one, families get together and eat dinner.Christmas is a very cultural holiday celebrated by many people over the world. Most holidays have some sort of “mascot” behind it. For example, Halloween has a pumpkin, Thanksgiving has a turkey, and Christmas has… Santa A.K.A. Saint Nicholas, Saint Nick, Kris Kringle, Father Christmas etc. Santa was a bishop who lived in the fourth century in a place called “Myra” in Asia Minor, which is now called Turkey. He was a very rich man because his parents died when he was young and left him a lot of money.                                   Many people will get together and decorate their homes for this very special holiday. The most common decorations are lights. Christmas lights were invented in 1882 by Edward Johnson.People over the world put lights all over their homes, or gardens, then at night time they turn them on. “I love to look at the lights because they’re very pretty”, said Tatianna Kilgore 8 grader.   Around the world, a common thing most people also do is put up Christmas Trees. Christmas trees were originally decorated with foods such as apples, nuts, and dates. But today, we use a thing called ornaments.
