The average amount of sleep a teenager needs to get is 9 ½ hours. These days most teenagers get 5 to 6 hours of sleep due to staying up on their phones and watching TV. Study shows that a teenagers brain doesn’t fully function until 10:00 a.m. Kids wake up at 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. to go to school.

Sleep is very important when it comes to using your brain.”I go to sleep at 8:30 p.m. and wake up at 5:00am and I am still tired” said Dylan Wilmont.”I usually go to sleep around 9:30 and wake up around 6:30,” said Briana Barnes.
Students do better in school when getting lots of sleep.
“While the CDC may now be urging later start times, they don’t go quite as far as Kelley’s 10 AM proposal – in a statement, the CDC reports that an 8:30 a.m. start time would allow teenagers to get the recommended 8.5 to 9.5 hours of sleep a night, so long as they went to bed around 11 PM or 12 AM.”
The CDC does not understand students don’t get up when the bell is about to ring , students need to time to get up and get ready. If students aren’t getting enough sleep and having a hard time focusing in class homework becomes 20 times harder for students.
