A New School Year
August 25, 2016
Monday, August 22 was the start of school for over 1,200 students at Dobie Junior High, across the SCUCISD district and beyond.
Many students walked in with new attitudes, new clothes, and a big smile on their face, while some came in not particularly happy. There were many different emotions flying in the air, such as stress, joy, and sadness.
“I was kind of nervous because I thought there would be new people and I didn’t know what they would think of me,” said Reina Huff, 8th grader, as she thought about the new school year.
Friends reunited in the cafeteria before the bell rang. They talked, shared stories about their summers, and caught up on everything they missed.
“Seeing my old friends and making new friends is one of the best parts,” Huff said.
Kaitlyn Henderson, 8th grader, was already enjoying some of her new teachers, such as Ms. Higgins, her language arts teacher.
“ I like Ms.Higgins because she’s a really nice teacher and she doesn’t assign us seats,” Henderson said.
“Ms.Goertz was my favorite teacher last year. Even though she can be really strict, she’s a good math teacher and she taught me a lot,” Huff said.
