13 Reasons Why is a popular Netflix show.

(Editor’s note: Spoiler alert. Do not read if you don’t want to learn about this show.)

The show starts off when Clay Jensen (played by Dylan Minnette) comes home after a day of school and finds a mysterious box on his    front porch. The box contains seven double-sided cassette tapes used by Hannah Baker ( played by Katherine Langford), a classmate who has recently committed suicide. Each tape details a reason that she killed herself.

Mr. and Mrs. Baker start a lawsuit on the school trying to figure out why their daughter killed herself. Throughout the show Mr. and Mrs. Baker struggle with the fact Hannah is gone and the store they own.

“My favorite character is Hannah Baker because she is cool. She didn’t really do anything she just always got blamed for something,” said Olivia Edwards, 8th grader.

Hannah Baker is a simple girl at heart. She likes candy, hot chocolate, blue nail polish, filling out surveys, and reading and writing poetry. Hannah is trying to find her high school love of her life. She has her eyes on one person but he never really notices her.

“My least favorite person in the show is Bryce because of what he did to Hannah,” Annabelle Standen,8th grader said. Bryce Walker  (played by Justin Prentice) is a main character in the show. He seems to appear on the tapes several times, all of which show less than desirable behavior.

Bryce is the only person on the tapes who has not heard them, due to Clay passing him over to give them to Mr.Potter. “He should’ve never did any of the stuff he did to Hannah or Jessica,” Standen said.

Bryce is definitely a trouble maker and super rude.

“My favorite part is probably episode 6 where Clay Jensen expresses his feelings about Hannah Baker at the cemetery,” said Annabelle Standen,8th grader. When Clay goes to the school dance the episode starts to get romantic.

Clay and his friend Tony went to the cemetery were Hannah was buried. Clay starts to talk about what he thinks about hannah. He starts to say he wishes he would of kissed her at the dance but he didn’t make the move. Hannah was super upset about it and she continued to mention that “one love” in her tapes. Clay figured it out and thought it was his fault she killed herself.

As the show goes on each detail gets bigger and more exciting to watch. “It is definitely worth watching,” Edwards said.

The ending is super graphic so keep that in mind.  It’s a super great show with lots of thrills and chills.
