The Netflix TV show, Stranger Things has become quite a hit ever since it first aired on Netflix in August of 2016. It is loved by many people, and has collected a large fan base full of admirers of the show. I chose Stranger Things because I truly do admire the scenery, acting, and scenes.

The characters include Joyce Byers, played by Winona Ryder;  Joyce Byers  is the mother of Will, who mysteriously disappeared one night on his way home. Mike Wheeler, played by Finn Wolfhard;  Mike is one of Will’s best friends and is determined to find him. Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown.

Eleven is the main connection to the Upside down and is their source for finding Will. Dustin Henderson, played by Gaten Matarazzo; Dustin is one of Will’s best friends and ventures out with Mike and Lucas to him. Lucas Sinclair, played by Caleb McLaughlin.

In Hawkins, Indiana during the 1980s, Will gets taken by a demogorgon to the upside down, which is an exact copy of above but is dark and crawling with monsters. The three friends, Mike, Dustin, and Lucas, venture out to find him.

They meet Eleven, a girl with telekinesis, that’s from the upside down, and the four of them go out to find Will and bring him back before it’s too late. Meanwhile the mother, Joyce, tries to find out where her missing son (Will) is at.

The scenery in Stranger Things was very beautiful. It had a very 1980s feel to it, and I’m a big fan of the 1980s, so I was incredibly impressed. “I liked it. It was very old timey and vintage,” said Amber Mayville, 8th grader. According to Deep South magazine, the scenery was filmed outside of Atlanta.

The characters in Stranger Things was another one of my favorite parts of the series. The acting in Stranger Things was amazing and very convincing. Some people who watch the show have favorite characters.

One of the main characters, Eleven, just really stood out to me as a character. In fact, she shaved all of her hair off just for the roll. “At first I thought that(Eleven) was a guy, but when I found out she had superpowers, she was one of my favorite characters,” said Isabella Huskanovic, 8th grader.

Overall, I loved all the characters. They all had something unique to the story that added spice. “I think about an 8 (rating of characters) cause’ they all have skills and they put them all together and make a plan,” said Huskanovic.

I loved the way that the writers wrote the scenes because it was really intense and dramatic. The scenes were so intense that in some of them, I almost cried. According to The Daily Beast, the writers saw the potential of the story three pages into the script. “When Will is talking through the wall because it shows where he is and kind of where he’s not and how much his mom misses him,” said Mayville.

Some scenes really make an impact. “I think when they tried to bring him back(Will) and he saw some scary stuff, and then they brought him back,” said Huskanovic.

“Stranger Things” is probably one of the best shows I’ve ever watched. The combination acting, scenery, and dramatic writing made this story genius. Although it only has one season so far, I know that when the second season comes out, I’ll be eager to watch it.
