Every Thursday at Steele High School, track girls are warming up for their last run for this season, this year is most successful because they have been passionate about this season, practicing and improving their worst for a great victory coming.
Makenzie Odom and Lexie Payne had finished their part for track season this year, they have been practicing, improving and they are more more than ever this season.
“Honestly my mom motivated me the most because whenever I’m running I can always hear her voice yelling at me to run faster and it actually helps me,” said Makenzie Odom, 8th grader.
She has been happy with herself during track even if she won or lose every meet, she always goes to her mom with her smile upon her face because she has all the happiness she can get for her mother.
“The skill I mostly improved were my jumps like for long and triple jump, I really learned how to extend and reach my toes,” said Odom.
“The fun in competing because you get to show your skills or look at others and improve, and also getting to meet new people from other schools,” said Lexie Payne, 8th grader.
Makenzie and Lexie have been picking up their skills that they either have to improve or they either dropped it for a reason. These girls never stop practicing because they think it’s something worth it in the future and the passionate love they have for the sport.
“When you’re starting it’s scary because you don’t want to let anyone down and you don’t want to be embarrassed if you loses or get hurt or fall but that helps you run faster or get up and keep running,” said Odom.
