Personal view: Dobie students welcomed with new rules

It’s that time of year again! You wake up in a sweat, shaken from the dream where your clock doesn’t go off and you are late. You know what I’m referring to — “The First Day of School!” Whether veteran or rookie, we all have mixed feelings of excitement and fear about that day.

Normally on the first day of school teachers talk about their expectations, rules, and make sure you get to know them. Well at Dobie Junior High we’ve had assembly’s over procedures and rules. Our school has gotten more strict with their rules and expectations. Every student is required to follow these rules.

Most of the students at Dobie think that the rules we have are really dumb rules. Rules in a way are for safety purposes not that the teachers want to be mean and just dissapline us with rules. Students need rules for a good learning environment. Every school has a student handbook and that handbook is rules we as students have to follow on a daily basis. Rules and regulations are set to teach students and prepare them for the future, but students have to know that their future is their choice, and choosing to follow the rules is up to them.

Students at Dobie have been following the rules so far. We’ve been doing really good as a school to earn our privileges back. Rules aren’t always fun to follow but just know that we have rules for safety purposes. Have a great rest of the year and remember to always be proactive no matter the situation.
