Personal View: My first week of school
October 26, 2017
Most people always dread the first week of school, since it’s the end of summer and the beginning of a long year. I actually enjoy going back to school especially the shopping. I think of it as being able to finally see my friends again and make some new ones too.
The night before the first day of school was interesting. I went to bed at 8:45 because I knew I wasn’t going to be able to sleep. I woke up at 5:30 and arrived at school at 7:50.
I met up with a few old friends and got caught up on their summer. I barely knew anyone in my homeroom, which I got really nervous about, because I thought it would be like that throughout the entire day. I had a few friends in some of my classes but most of them I see around the halls. I had injured my knee over the summer and had signed up for athletics post injury.
I was really nervous that when I changed my schedule it would move me to another team or to different classes without my friends. Luckily there was an 8th period choir and it didn’t affect my schedule at all.
Overall I had really good first impressions of my new teachers. My favorite was probably Mrs.P.J. for the reason that she seemed so upbeat and made me feel really comfortable. I didn’t dislike any teachers I just didn’t consider them one of my favorites. Unfortunately I had actual homework on the first day of school, I guess that’s what you get when you sign up for algebra.
I wasn’t expecting to have such a good first day or week of school. They are normally pretty hectic and a bit chaotic since so many people are trying to adjust to their new school or schedule. Im hoping that this school year will be just as good as previous ones or better.
I do worry a lot more often than I should, and I think I underestimated the power of confidence. I felt really good and was super happy and I felt as if I was on top of the world. I think that even though confidence is a small thing it helped me take my mind off the nervousness.
In the end I feel like I’m really going to enjoy this school year and my classes. I think so many thing could have been different and I would probably still be saying the same things. In my opinion having a positive attitude and overall positive persona can help you see the best in everything.
