Football is always the center of excitement here at Dobie Jr. High. Football players work hard to improve, learn, and win! Dobie loves its football team and loves to see them win and improve each year.

For their first two games, Dobie’s  7th and 8th grade A teams have played against Spring Branch, 9-21-17, and Smithson Valley,9-28-17.

The game against Spring Branch MS was 34-0 for 7th grade, and for 8th grade 30-0. “We learned a lot about ourselves, and we learned the only team that can beat us, is us,” said Coach Gamboa, 8th grade Football Coach.

The game with Smithson Valley was 30-0 for 8th grade and for 7th grade the score was 8-12.

Monico Lucero, 8th grade, a second string left guard and second string left tackle, said he saw room for improvement after the Smithson Valley game. “We played good, but I don’t think we were aggressive enough,” he said.

Gabriel Gonzalez, a 7th grade middle linebacker and wide receiver said, “Our defense was pretty good, we just needed to block more.”

Students at Dobie are very enthusiastic about Football. Football players are hard workers and strive to do their best. In the words of Lucero, “Try, Fail, Try again, and Fail better.”
