Dobie track athletes only complete one or two field events so most of their time is spent talking with one another. This friendly environment is one of the reasons why Amare Williams enjoys away track meets.
The largely anticipated track meet on March 26 was canceled due to heavy rain. Athletes who had field events later in the meet could not compete and some were upset. “It was tragic,” Keith Moore said. “I really wanted to beat Judson, Woodlake and Legacy in discus.” Though the rain might have discouraged other schools, Dobie athletes seemed to remain calm. “I don’t think it will affect how we work because ultimately everybody is in the same boat,” Coach Castillo said. “So at the end of the day, whether it’s the stack qualifiers or the state championship, it should not make that big of a difference.”
